We’ve been talking about getting a puppy for some time now but there was never a “right moment”. You know what I’m talking about? That feeling where you’re like “this is it, this is the one”. Kind of like when we bought this house and now with Goldie, it’s the same. My SIL told us about these puppies and it all worked out – someone ended up backing out last minute and we were next in line!
So Sunday afternoon we get the message and then an hour later find ourselves heading out to pick her up. We told Hazel that we had a really big birthday surprise for her and she was really excited about it -but didn’t know what it was. On the drive there we made jokes like “oh shoot, I forgot to get batteries for it.” and “can I hold your present on the way home?!” She was confused but it was fun having a small little surprise like that for her.
When we got to the spot where we picked her up we walked to the back yard and saw a few puppies running around, Hazel said she was so excited when she saw the puppies. She held Goldie for the first time -I thought she was going to drop her- but it was the sweetest thing seeing her smile and get excited. We sat around and played for a bit, said goodbye to Goldie’s sisters and hit the road. Goldie fell asleep in Hazel’s lap and it was that moment that I knew the would be best friends, and I knew it was the “right moment”.
Welcome to the family sweet little Goldie!
Also, Hanna loves Goldie to pieces, she’s always asking to “hold please” and “tickle”. Quite the opposite of what we thought she would be. Goldie is fitting right in!
