This playroom has been so many things over the past four years, a storage room, an office, an office playroom, and a playroom office. For the most part these days the playroom part overrules the office, but that’s okay because I really like the way it’s looking.
I could spend hours in this room with the girls every day. And in fact, there are many days where we do. From teaching preschool, to playing with the kitchen, and the doll house, to Barbies, we’ve got everything in there we could ever need.
One of my favorite parts about the playroom is our pretty Lorena Canals rug. It’s a map of the word which I think is quite perfect for a playroom-preschool room-office. It sure seems to tie everything together. It makes the space so much brighter, and adds a bit of color to our seemingly brown and dark rental. I love bright light, and am amazed at how bright this room is each time I walk by it. I love these Lorena Canals rugs because they are machine washable, which is perfect for a playroom, and they are some of the softest rugs I’ve ever had. We really love our Lorena Canals rugs, so much that we have two of them. I love that they are individually handmade, and have 100% natural cotton and non-toxic dyes. They are extra soft and comfortable, making it easy to decorate around. Oh, and they look good with a cute baby on them too.
We love spending out days in here, learning and growing, and I really love what this playroom has turned into. One of my favorite purchases to date is this toddler table. When I first purchased it I didn’t know how much I would actually use it, I had good intentions, but never realized that it would become one of Hazel’s most used pieces of furniture. I remember the first time we had her sit in it, her legs didn’t quite reach to the ground, but she was sure proud to have a table just her size. Fast forward two years and now she uses the chairs to get things off of high shelves -I do not condone this p.s.
Some of the things we use every day in our play room are the “Today” chart that we purchased in the Target Dollar Spot, our Creative Qt Bean Bag -seriously a genius idea because it holds our stuffed animals- and our book basket.
Can I tell you a funny story about that basket? We were at Michael’s the other day and Hazel saw this basket, she put it in the cart and I asked her what she was going to do with it She said she would put her books in it. Long story short I decided we didn’t really need the basket, and she completely broke down in tears, sobbing -poor thing. She wanted the basket, and I caved and got it for her, Brand would call me an enabler -oh well.
The tassel garland I made for Hazel’s first birthday party and it has been a decoration ever since -one of Hanna’s favorite too. Our ABC word strip came from the Dollar Tree and the color blocks were from a game we played. Mostly our play room is a mixture of things that we have compiled over the last few years, and it has all worked out I think. Â
But I really do love how well the rug ties the room together. It’s the perfect fit for our playroom, and I absolutely love it!
