This week we learned about the letter U for Universe (since we already used the letter S for senses). It was fun to see Hazel talk about the different planets and see what she is really remembering. We did an activity that had the names of the planets and she was telling me what the words said! I was in complete awe! Have fun!
DAY 1
Activity: Make the letter U with Play Foam.
Learning Activity Book: Learn to Write Your Letters

Book to Read: The Planets: Fourth Edition
Craft: Space Themed Wreath
Active Play: Go on an evening walk and see if you can spot any planets. When we went on a walk Hazel spotted Venus right away!
DAY 2
Activity: Make the letter U with Play Foam.
Learning Activity Book: The letter U activity sheet
Song: The letter U by Patty Shukla.
Book to Read: Planets: National Geographic Kids
Craft: Paint a Planet. Use a paper plate and have your child paint a planet. Use the correct colors of each planet. Make it fun and paint a colorful planet, help your child mix the colors and create a marbled effect.
Active Play: Pretend you are astronauts discovering other planets. Describe the things you might see on these planets.
DAY 3
Activity: Make the letter S with Play Foam.
Learning Activity Book: Review how to write upper case and lower case letters.
Song: The letter U by Patty Shukla.
Book to Read: Review the above books -they have so much information in them!
Craft: Make a galaxy mobile with painted styrofoam balls.
Active Play: Make satellite sundaes (ice cream served in a cup wrapped in tinfoil).
Learning doesn’t have to be difficult, just make it fun!
