Hazel is an early riser, and I usually am too, but only when I’ve had a full nights sleep, which isn’t happening these days.
In this season of life, I’d say that Hazel is my morning alarm clock. But, it’s not always a pleasant wake-up call. Sometimes I’m woken up to heavy breathing on my neck, a tickling sensation on my face, and other times she just comes to my face and says “MOM!”. Talk about a rude awakening! On the mornings when she wakes up super early she also tends to be super cranky. Which makes it hard for me to be patient when the first few moments of my day are cries and tantrums. But I’ve been working really hard at being a better mom, a nicer mom and have developed a few tricks myself.
Five ways that I keep both of us from crying so early in the morning.
5 Tips For Cry Free Early Mornings
Stay Positive: Don’t start yelling, be sympathetic. Maybe they are still tired, so instead of getting angry, cuddle up with them on the couch for a minute or read them their favorite book.
NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® Super Breakfast: In our house, we refer to this as chocolate milk, because that’s pretty much what it is, but it’s on way to make sure your child had the right amount of protein in their morning meal. I cannot tell you how much we love these NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® Super Breakfast drinks, and they are perfect for a little bribery too. “I know, you could have some delicious chocolate milk!” It works every time! You can find these at Walmart in the drink aisle, by the breakfast drinks, they are super easy to find. Also, use this cash back offer and purchase NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® Super Breakfast for your family.
Let Them Pick Their Outfit: Every morning I lay out three outfit choices for Hazel to wear. I get to pick three appropriate ones, but she gets to pick her favorite one out of the three that I chose. It’s really a win-win and makes her feel big.
Make Brushing Teeth Fun: Hazel and I usually brush our teeth at the same time in the morning, and in the mornings I let her brush her own teeth. So, when I’m brushing my teeth I’ll usually make a funny face, or do a silly dance, which she usually copies or laughs at. Kids love silly.
Get On Their Level: Find out what is bothering them. Sit on their level and talk to them for a minute, see what you can do to help them with, make time to help them fix their problem.
I think the moral of the story is to stay happy and don’t stress out. Another great idea would be to prepare everything the night before. That way you aren’t running around the house looking for missing clothes, or homework assignments.
And if you’re interested in purchasing NESTLÉ® NESQUIK® Super Breakfast head to your local Walmart and buy them there.
