Did you know that your child is never too young for learning activities? There are so many things that you can do to play with your new baby.
They say that the first year of a child’s life is when their brain grows the most. So, let’s make sure your little one is learning all the things they need to.
The Best Way to Teach Your 3-6 Month Old
Reading Books: We are huge book advocates over here. There is nothing better than having your child love to read too. Finding a simple moment in the day to just sit down and read a quick book with them introduces them to colors, shapes, pictures, words, and even textures if you buy the texture books. Find time to read every day with your new baby and see their world grow.
Sit, Spin, and Stand Entertainer: Hanna had great head control at three months old, but we waited till she was about 4 months old to really start her out with this awesome entertainer. She loves standing up in it -like a big girl- and she loves being able to see everything that’s going on around her. This entertainer is perfect for developing hand-eye coordination, cause and effect learning, and develops fine motor skills. Some of the other things I love about this entertainer is that it grows with Hanna, it’s super easy to fold up and put away, and she loves playing in it.
Activity Gym: It’s good for your baby to have some alone (but supervised) time. This teaches them to not rely so heavily on you. It gives them a sense of self and lets them learn on their own.
Noisey Socks: I made beaded socks for both Hazel and Hanna and it’s one of the things that I absolutely love. Through this, they learn cause and effect, when they kick it makes noise. I love having such a simple learning activity for my girls.
Mirrors: Babies love discovering new things and always seem to smile at themselves in the mirror. Point to them in the mirror and talk to them. Tell them what you are seeing. What I like to do is lay down next to Hanna and put a mirror above us (safely). It’s funny seeing her reaction. Try it!
Talking: Talk to your baby. They are never too young to be talked to, they are always learning and growing. Talk to them about what you are doing, where you are going in the house, make a funny noise at them and get them laughing.
Sometimes we over think how simple and easy it is to teach our young children. It doesn’t have to be rocket science.
What kind of fun learning activities does your baby enjoy?

June 28, 2018 at 2:32 amThese are great ideas! I’ve always wanted one of those stander/spinner exercise toys. We just have the walker they sit in, but it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles or spin
