Hazel has become the biggest game fanatic, she absolutely loves games. And you know me, I love anything that teaches Hazel and helps her learn. So this was the perfect way for me to intertwine her love of games and my love of teaching her.
Over the past few months, I’ve been researching educational games for Hazel and have found a bunch that we both really enjoy. So, if you’re interested in teaching your child through play, or if you just love games, I’ve compiled a list of Educational and Learning games that we love and recommend.
Games are also a great way for your child to develop different skills and relationships with others.
The Best Learning Games for Your Kids
If you’re interested in how we play these games head to my Instagram (@lyssadawson) and check out my highlighted stories, these games will be in the section called “KID GAMES”.
Shelby’s Snack Shack Board Game: Help Shelby find the bones that she left on the beach. This is a fun four-player game that is so fun that Hazel and I have played it every day for the past week. The object of the game is to get the most bones in your bowl before they are all picked up from the bard game. I especially love this because it teaches number recognition, and helps develop fine motor skills. It’s also great for developing those finger muscles used to hold a pencil. (There is also a book that coincides with this game, it teaches counting and recognization.)
The Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game: Collect all the acorns and you win! This is another game that we’ve played every day for the past week, multiple times a day. Another four-player game that teaches hand-eye coordination helps develop fine motor skills, teaches color recognition, and teaches strategy. Collect every color acorn and you win!
My First Grab It! Space Match: This game is perfect if you are trying to teach your child their shapes and colors. Hazel caught on pretty quick to her shapes after we got this game. My three-year-old knows what a hexagon is! This is a four-player game, each player takes a turn retrieving a shape, collect all the shapes on your board to win. Each shape is a different color so it can also be a two in one game.
Any Game With Dice: Teach your child how to count dice and how to count spaces on a board game. This has helped teach Hazel different rules, and that it’s okay to lose sometimes.
Any Puzzles: Try puzzles with words, puzzles with numbers, or even puzzles with pictures. Puzzles help teach patience, hand-eye coordination, pattern recognition, while also teaching your child to think and problem solve. We love puzzles when we are trying to wind down for the day, or if we just need a moment to relax. Here is the link to this spelling puzzle pictured above.
Pop The Pig: This was one of the first games we purchased for Hazel. It teaches colors and number recognition. It’s extremely easy to play. Roll the dice to see what color hamburger you pick up. Turn around your hamburger to reveal the number of times you have to press down on the pig’s head -this is how his belly grows.
We love learning through playing, there is no better way to have fun. Which of these games are you going to get for your kids!?
Some of these products were provided, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
