Each year since we’ve had Hazel seems to go by faster than the last, especially around Christmas time. And the reason may be because it’s my very favorite time of year, good times always seem to speed by don’t they?
I love teaching Hazel the true meaning of Christmas, even if the only part she understands is that it’s baby Jesus’ birthday. She loves looking at the Christmas tree, Santa, snow globes, and winding the music makers. But her favorite part just might be holding every baby Jesus we have, she must know He’s special.
Every day we stop and look at all the decorations, specifically stopping at all the winding music makers because she wants to turn the bottom and make it sing all by herself. She’s so very independent this girl. My grandma brought over the neatest Santa figurine, you wind the bottom and then open up the Santa and inside there Santa is riding in his sleigh around the Christmas tree with his reindeer. It’s a really sweet little music box, and Hazel absolutely loves it!
Every now and again Hazel wanders near the Christmas tree all by herself, and I just sit back and secretly watch her. One time she started opening the presents… but that was stopped real quick- HA! She’ll wonder around looking at everything, stop by baby Jesus and say Hi baby Jesus, how you doing? Then she’ll go over to the winding Santa and try to wind it till she stops and calls me in for help.
Christmas time sure is magical with this girl in our house. It makes me forget how Christmas was before she was here, it wasn’t near as fun let’s just say that.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family and loved ones near.
Happy Christmas to all!
