Let me be honest about this postpartum body, I still had a belly after I had my baby -I’m pretty sure
everyone does- and mine was big, I still looked like I was pregnant. I felt really weird because it wasn’t something I was expecting. Gradually it went away, and I found myself in my pre- pregnancy jeans, after about eight weeks.
For those first few weeks I felt most comfortable in few things: leggings or a house dress. From week two till week eight I work my maternity jeans. I really didn’t think I would wear them for this long, but lets get real, that panel was wonderful on a postpartum belly -it sucked it right in! Which is one of the reasons why I was okay wearing those darn maternity jeans for a while.
When it came to tops I found myself wearing the same 5 flow-y tops, they were wonderful because they hid everything that I was so uncomfortable with and they were still easy to manage when ti came to feedings.
My body is starting to feel back to normal now, don’t get me wrong I still have that extra stretched out skin and my abs haven’t fully realigned. But I’m starting to feel so much better about myself. Although, when I really think about it, when I think about alllll that my body went through for those past nine months, I must give it credit. It’s such an amazing thing, the body, it just created another person and so quickly went back to it “normal” self. So here’s to the female body, and of course to maternity jeans, and flow-y shirts, the unsung heroes.

April 7, 2015 at 3:38 pmAh, I'm hating my pooch! I just have to remind myself every day that it's there because my baby is here. It's rough though, and I HAD to throw out the maternity jeans, just because they were making me feel like I would never wear normal clothes again. My weight has definitely stayed on, we're coming up on three months, but everyone's body is different and I'm sure I'll be able to work it off!
