This weekend was a whole lot of fun. AHS, friends, family, a little bit of creativity, lots of board games, and sleep, much needed sleep. Brand and I volunteered at a donor brunch on Saturday that AHS put on and I got to spend all morning with that cute pup above. He became my best friend and never left my side. I think he thought I was going to take him home and it broke my heart when I had to take him back to his kennel. SUCH a sweet lovable pup.
On a creative note Brand–only one day into his fall break–made this telescope. I know, it doesn’t look like one, but its got that little magnifying glass in there and a spot for the thing your magnifying. He’s a genius I tell ya. Which makes me understand how he did so well this semester in school. On Sunday, after church of course, we experimented with this guy and grabbed a leaf, a potato chip, and a piece of hair–each at different times–to see what we could see. It was really neat to see the veins on the leaf, and the potato chip looked pretty nasty and greasy, definitely ruined my apatite for eating potato chips.
We began the weekend with board games and ended the weekend with board games. I’m not into them because I’m not very competitive and I always lose, so instead I crochet. We played Settlers once and Risk twice, and from just supervising the games I’d say that I like Risk better, although it takes forever to finish, lets just say I got a lot accomplished.
I’d also like to add how much fun it is to be around family, to have them so close. I think it’s one of those things I’ve never really stood back and thought about. But reminiscing on the weekend and the fun Sunday evenings and nights that we have I can’t help but feel grateful for being so close to family. Sometimes we take it for granted, but we are so grateful to have them near.
